Bishop Ole Christian Mælen Kvarme, Bishop Emeritus of Oslo, and Rev. Olav Dag Hauge visited the University of Rijeka Rectorate on Monday, September 30, 2019.
The esteemed guests were welcomed by Prof. Snježana Prijić-Samaržija, Ph.D., UNIRI Rector, Prof. Alen Ružić, M.D., Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Sciences and Arts, Prof. Marta Žuvić, Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Quality Assurance and Enhancement, Prof. Zoran Grozdanov, Ph.D., University Center for Protestant Theology “Matija Vlačić Ilirik”, Zagreb, Prof. Nebojša Zelić, Ph.D., Department of Philosophy, UNIRI Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Ms. Iva Tijan, Head of International Unit. Also present at the meeting was H.E. Mr. Hrvoje Marušić, former Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in the Kingdom of Norway.
Rector Snježana Prijić-Samaržija opened the meeting with a brief introduction about the University of Rijeka, while bishop Ole Christian Mælen Kvarme, along with Mr. Olav Dag Hauge, presented his institution, work, and activities with regards to inter-religious dialogue and peace research.
Professor Zelić stated possible avenues of collaboration within the framework of the upcoming UNIRI Center for Peace and Conflict Studies. The meeting also served as an opportunity to discuss various possibilities for joint projects and further collaborative innovations from academic, cultural, and community-based aspects.
