Strategic Internationalisation of Graduate Studies in Mathematics and Biotechnology – OPTILIFE, 2018 – 2021

The project „Strategic Internationalisation of Graduate Studies in Mathematics and Biotechnology – OPTILIFE ” has been approved for funding under the Operational Programme Efficient Human Resources 2014-2020 and co-financed from the European Social Fund.

The project beneficiary is the University of Rijeka with its departments of Biotechnology and Mathematics. Project partners are The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and LogIN Ltd.

The duration of the project is 36 months (start date: 12/10/2018 – end date: 12/10/2021). Total eligible budget:  HRK 1,799,346.08 (approx. EUR 242,000).

OPTILIFE will enable the enhancement of the quality and strengthening of the University’s capacity for internationalization through the development and implementation of the first year of the new graduate programme “Biotechnology for the Life Sciences” and the development of a new module “Optimization” and partial implementation of the graduate programme “Discrete Mathematics and Its Applications” based on new labour market requirements.

The OPTILIFE project is aimed at fostering scientific excellence, mobility, improving the quality and relevance of higher education through the internationalization of higher education.

OPTILIFE  will contribute to the quality and relevance of higher education as well as increasing the number of study programmes and modules in foreign languages, while strengthening student, research and administrative staff’s competencies. The development of studies taught in English will improve skills and expand the knowledge of staff and students, encouraging at the same time mobility and attracting potential students. An interdisciplinary approach and focus on research skills will provide students with high quality preparation for their future research careers. Also, they will be highly competitive in both applying for doctoral studies and  employment.
