UNIRI Joins YUFE Alliance

On the occasion of joining the YUFE Alliance (Young Universities for the Future of Europe), a press conference was held at the University of Rijeka Rectorate. The University’s representatives briefly presented the alliance, one of 17 networks of institutions, selected by the European Commission for funding. The YUFE Alliance aims to connect different European universities and create a university platform at a European level.

The initiative was presented by Prof. Snježana Prijić-Samaržija, Ph.D., UNIRI Rector, Mr. Aleksandar Šušnjar, Project Coordinator for the University, and Ms. Tea Dimnjašević, student representative.

YUFE Alliance brings together different partners from higher education, non-governmental and private sector. It has 8 full partners (the University of Antwerp, University of Bremen, University of Eastern Finland, University Carlos III in Madrid, Maastricht University, University of Cyprus, University of Essex and Tor Vergata University of Rome) and 6 associated partners (The Adecco Group, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME, ETS Global, Kiron and the University of Rijeka). Together, the YUFE partners will establish one of the first true European Universities.

YUFE members are set to transform European higher education by establishing the leading model of a student-centered, open and inclusive European University. In this way, YUFE makes Europe-wide higher education a reality for local and international students of all backgrounds. It enables them to create their own curriculum and maximizes the impact of all universities in the alliance. In YUFE, learning in the classroom goes hand in hand with the development of soft and professional skills via internships at local businesses and governments; the direct experience in interdisciplinary and intersectoral teams of researchers, entrepreneurs and citizens solving local and European challenges; engagement in the local communities of the YUFE cities and the mutual support and enrichment with the local citizens.
